You guys pardon me for just showing off but I really like this guitar, and John Howe's guitar prompted me. I will give Bob C about half the credit. It's a sapele and cedar 00 guitar, my verson of a L-00, though it is really a loose interpretation of that shape and style. Binding is brasilian, as is the overlay and back veneer and bridge. Fingerboard is ebony. (yawn)

Paul You have no competition at Healdsburg from me cause I am not going. (not that you would if I did go ) That is all the way across the continent.
I took this little guitar to the Maple Street guitar store in Atlanta and the owner, who is a classical guitar player, put it through its paces. I was nervous because he did not say a thing for about half an hour. When he finished he said things like loud, balanced, clear, uniform all the way up the neck. I was relieved.
I do believe the sapele/mahog and cedar is a good combination, especially for fingersytle

there should be an icon that has very large green eyes!!!!

what tuners did you use? waverleys?

Beautiful guitar!!!! Thank goodness there is only Kinnaird east and west, we couldn't handle a north and south as well. Be sure and post some pics over at AG if you haven't already, I like it when the gear heads drool.

Beautiful guitar John, You hit it right about BobC's wood, I feel like if not for that fabulous stuff (Bob, ya out did yourself) mine would be like just another guitar. I thought about using the cedar also but I have 2 more sets of this stuff so maybe next time and now I have 10 sets of cedar as well. So far I really like this carpathian spruce though too. Is this the guitar that's going to the UK?

hey Paul, you might see Bruce Petros struttin a couple of guitars with that same Sapele, I sold him several sets a short while back but I do not know if he is planning to display any of them there.

The good news to me is that pretty much anyone that has this stuff is a member here. And I consider everyone here friends. So I don't mind competition amongst friends at all. I'm just glad the likes of Bob Taylor didn't get ahold of any of it.

I wouldn't count on it Paul, I've seen a lot of this stuff around.
I know of two luthiers in my area that have it and they didn't get it here.

You guys probably know this, but the hardest part of making this guitar was the venetian cutaway. Those curls did not want to stay together in that tight bend

OK John,

How's this for a shipping idea to the UK. First you want the guitar to get to your customer in perfect playing condition following its epic journey across the Atlantic and its handling by various airline, customs and shipping staff don't you? So I guess it will need checking this end.

So this is the plan, send it over to me first, (OK I'm not in England right now but I will be again soon), I'll then give the action a check over once it's settled down to our conditions and make sure that the top is nicely broken in. It is after all a small bodied 'mahogany' guitar and who better to ensure it gets to its customer in perfect condition than a small bodied 'mahogany' guitar specialist?

I guess this should only take a year or two maybe three tops.

I know, you don't have to thank me I'm all heart.

   I could ship it to Indonesia, isn't that where your are now, and then you could just take it with you back to London. (I'm sure you have to at least go through London on your way home. Gatwick, Heathrow, some such)
   I wonder how strict the customs are where you currently reside
   I really do hate shipping so far through so many unfriendly prying inspectors
